My name is Nedra Tucker-Hedgecoth of Hankypankys
Cattery. I got started in Persians back in the mid
1980's when I purchased my first cat from Marianne Byrne
of Midas Cattery. Champion Midas Sheba was my foundation
female and is behind all my old lines. I bought her at
the Ohio State Fair during fair week. Sheba was the love
of my life, although just a breeder, I loved her no less
and to this day she is deeply missed. I had originally
purchased her as a pet but then later I decided to show
and breed her. Marianne let me buy her papers after
seeing how she had developed. I dragged that poor cat
across the State and then some ! I guess no-one had the
heart to tell me to go home until I had something better
to bring out.
I eventually
figured out that she did not have the qualities of
the cats I had been seeing at the shows, so off I
went. I took her back to Marianne for stud service
to Grand Champion Lullaby Abracadabra Of Midas, DM
which produced 8 black kittens !!! In the meantime I
had met Nancy Davis of Willow Glen cattery who took
me under her wing and we bred Sheba to Nancy's Grand
Champion Willow Glen Baccarat, DM. This gave me my
start and Nancy and I became good friends along the
way. I then brought in a black male who granded
easily from Sue Heitman of Marhei cattery. Grand
Champion Marhei Express produced 11 Grand Champions
for me. He always threw that smooth frontal doming
and one piece bodies that I like so much in a
Persian After that I acquired several Bolo Persians
and have just recently begun to bring in new lines
to hopefully improve on what I have already without
losing something else in the process. These lines
include Vinec, Joleigh, Beaubell, Pojo, Spellbound
and Spookipawz. During this time I had gotten my
sister started in breeding Persians, her cattery
being Lamettas, and my niece being Purdy Katz. Both
have since gone on to do other things but not
without leaving behind some beautiful cats to the
fancy. Hankypankys has produced 19 Grands and has
granded quite a few cats from other catteries. I
have a few cats within just a few points of granding
and for one reason or another never got to finish
them.
My
cattery is located in Englewood, Ohio,
which is just north of Dayton close to
I-70 and I-75 and only 5 minutes from
the Dayton International Airport. Most
of my cats have been PKD tested and are
Feluke/FIP/FIV checked. All cats and
kittens leaving my cattery are sold with
a contract and written health guarantee.
